Maureen's Hope Youth Club
at Paige's Butterfly Run on June 6, 2009

This is why I love our youth! We put together a team to participate in Paige's Butterfly Run and we had 57 kids from our youth club show on our team! Awesome! Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this event. Proceeds benefit the Center for Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders at University Hospital.
Art Program for Children at University Hospital
While my sister Maureen was hospitalized at Sloan Kettering, they had a wonderful Art Program that we utilized while making many wonderful new memories. It was a place to be creative, laugh and forget your worries.
On March 26, 2008 Maureens Hope started an Art Therapy Class at University Hospital and it was equally enriching to both the children and the instructors. I want to thank Child Life Specialists Sue Karl and Margaret Nellis for helping us to coordinate this program and Sandra Fioramonti from the Liverpool Art & Wellness Center for sharing her passion, talent and calming demeanor with the children. It was the first of many wonderful classes!

EASTER BASKETS FOR CHILDREN AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Maureens Hope Foundation provided over 50 baskets of hope and inspiration for the children who spent Easter at University Hospital in Syracuse, NY. The baskets all included soft blankets, teddy bears that wear a hope bracelet, personal care items and of course chocolate. The baskets were personalized with age appropriate gifts such as nail polish, journals, soft socks and lip gloss for the teenage girls and matchbox cars, coloring books, and stickers for the preschool ages boys. There was something special for everyone from teenages to babies.
The baskets were delivered on Saturday, April 7 and the nurses then brought the baskets to the children’s rooms that night while they were sleeping. The baskets also included a special gift for the children to give to their mother or caretaker. A gemstone bracelet was specially designed for them with each stone holding a special meaning such as strength, hope and love.
I truly believe we helped make this holiday a special one for the children and we plan to do the baskets again next year!

Students made HOPE bracelets to send to some of our troops in Iraq along with cards to show our support and share our Hope! They loved the bracelets and put them right on!
